Youth are the future (youth meaning under 40 of course); education is the future (and becoming a greater necessity for job security); and nonprofits have a huge role in our future (because PiP is here to ensure they stay around). So how will these things be playing out in the next generation? Here at Professionals in Philanthropy, we are ecstatic to announce the beginnings of a new program at the University of Nevada—Las Vegas that will play an integral role in that interaction.

It’s known as Grantwell (catch a video here); a student run program that prepares graduate students to enter the public sector through work with real nonprofit organizations and foundations (it’s faculty advised—don’t worry). They work with actual donors, they consult, they advise, they offer strategy planning, team evaluation and grant allocation research. It’s incredible real world experience and they’re gaining it with real money (leaving all the monopoly pieces at home).

What better way to ensure a positive future than to take the best and the brightest and get them involved in this enlivening, inspiring, fulfilling work right from the start? So from the nonprofit world in Southern Nevada, we offer a resounding “WELCOME!” to the Grantwell Program at UNLV.
