Where were you 10 years ago?

Having your first kid?
Kicking your first kid out?
Starting a career?
Retiring?
Were you graduating college?
Or (like some PiP team members) graduating middle school?

It’s a question we’ve been asking ourselves a lot lately…because that’s what you do when you reach the 10 year anniversary of your firm.

10 years ago, “we” weren’t even a “we”. We were a “she.” The firm started as Stacey Wedding & Associates, LLC and it was just our Founder and Chief Strategist, Stacey Wedding. There was a homemade website and no social media (let alone a social media strategy). We had four incredible clients, we only worked in the Las Vegas Valley, and we were proud of where we were…mostly because we knew where we wanted to go.

Here’s where 10 years got us.

Eventually Stacey Wedding gained some associates and the firm became Professionals in Philanthropy: a firm who works and speaks in the national circuit.  We now have a professional website, a full social media strategy, a team with six incredible members, a list of 77 past and present organizations and funders who we’ve worked with to strengthen our community, and we even have stress balls with our logo (what further proof could there be that we’ve made it?). We now emphasize Board Governance, Storytelling, Grant Writing and Strategic Planning. And not only do we talk the talk, we walk the walk, having donated more than $50,000 and volunteering more than 7,500 hours.

But the truth is that we didn’t get here alone. You have inspired us, collaborated with us, and even cried with us on occasion.

We have realized that the only question more important than, “Where were you?” is, “Where do you want to go?” That was the question that helped us to achieve success this past decade, and it’s the question we are committed to helping you answer and pursue.

Thank you for what you do for this community. Thank you for giving us so much to celebrate in this past decade. Share the story of where you were in 2006 using the hashtag #WhereWereYou and join us in reflecting on these last 10 years! We can’t wait for what the next 10 will bring, for both PiP and the communities it has thrived in!
