With only one week until Nevada’s Big Give, we understand that many of you have already planned and implemented plans to participate in Nevada’s Big Give. But for anyone who might thrive on the thrill of the last-minute, here are some important reminders!

Do’s and Don’ts for Donors

  • DO #FindYour5. After you make a donation, log into your social media sites and tag (or, you know, call out) five friends who can also participate. Who couldn’t use a little public motivation to participate in a state-wide day of giving (or a little public shame if they don’t)?
  • DO donate strategically. Nonprofit organizations can win additional monetary prizes not only for having the most unique donors and the most dollars raised, but also for having the most unique donors during a Power Hour. There are four one-hour Power Hours throughout the day where the organization with the most unique donors in that time period wins an extra $500. If you want to maximize your support get as many friends as possible to donate at the same time! Check out the scheduled Power Hours and other prizes here.
  • DO share information about your organizations on social media. With each post or share you’re helping to spread the word about the organization and Nevada’s Big Give. You have the opportunity to participate in transforming the way Nevadan’s think about and participate in philanthropy. Make a difference, we dare you.
  • DON’T think any donation is too small. The minimum donation is $10. College students might eat a few more ramen noodle meals, professionals might have to order the tall instead of the venti for a few days, but everyone can do their part to make a measurable impact in the organizations goal. This isn’t just about the dollar amount, it’s about a spirit of giving and the collective power of many people willing to do their small part.
  • DON’T think giving in Nevada only happens today. Reach out to the PiP team if you want to learn more about ways to incorporate philanthropy into your daily life or strategize your giving. Continue to be an advocate and cultural change-maker for your organization. We need you for more than 24 hours.
